PENSACOLA, FL -- Ricky Brooks has become possibly the most well known name in the country when it comes to chief technical inspectors. It is his job to do it, but some say he would disqualify his own mother from a race win if he found infractions on her car.

What newer fans might not know is that he was quite the 'wheel man' himself before turning his steering wheel in for a set of tech tools. Saturday night, in The Viper Series Diamondback 100 at South Alabama Speedway, Brooks will return to his roots behind the wheel of the Mitch Smith Motorsports No. 33.

Z3Sports.com presented by Freightliner spoke with Brooks about his return to driving, his thoughts on rule changes in The Viper Series since he resigned his position there and more. You can hear it in the Z3Sports.com presented by Freightliner Audio Report below.
