KINSTON, AL -- Venom pumps through the veins of the anxious drivers, crews, and fans as everyone prepares themselves for the 34th Annual Rattler Weekend. Interest peaks as previous winners and popular names are scheduled to contend for the Rattler title.

 Among those set to compete are former winners Augie Grill, Bobby Gill, Johnny Brazier, and Grant Enfinger. This event is attracting other big names like Brian Ickler, driving for Kyle Busch Motorsports, Ickler took home fifth position at last year's Rattler. Chase Elliott, son of popular NASCAR driver Bill Elliott, will be starting his first ever Rattler this weekend. Viper Series Champion Bubba Pollard will be one of the top picks during this event. Johanna Long, the 2009 Blizzard Series Champion at Five Flags (FL) Speedway, will make her return to South Alabama Speedway for the first time since 2008 to compete during Rattler Weekend.

 Two-time ASA Champion, Gary St. Amant will make his first Rattler start. Three-time NASCAR Southeast Tour Champion, Jeff Fultz will return to try to make up for last year when his battery went dead and sent him to the rear of the field. Other top drivers entered into this event are Ryan Lawler, Chris Davidson, Korey Ruble, Donnie Wilson, Casey Smith, Jeff Choquette, T J Reaid, David Hodges Jr., and Eddie Mercer, among others.

 The 5th Annual Pro Late Model Rattler 125 is the headline event for Saturday. The five year old event has become a popular early-season race for the Pro Late Model drivers. The six-time Viper Series, and Rattler 125 winner Bubba Pollard will be back to defend his title, but a field full of talented Pro Late Model drivers will be on hand and give Pollard a run for his money.

 Local classes will also be competing this weekend. Along with the racing scheduled, there will also be a church service Sunday at 10:30 with music provided by the Giles Family. For more information about South Alabama Speedway or the Rattler Weekend, stay tuned to Z3Sports.com.
